Just finished listening to a clip of Weezer’s first single off their forthcoming sixth studio album. That being said, I refuse to use any immoderate punctuation (e.g. WEEZER IS BACK!!!1~) to announce that Weezer is indeed back… and their classic sound appears to be returning as well [hesitantly inserting a period rather than an exclamation point here]. Why is my guard up, you ask? Probably because their last album sucked or something like that. A cynic I am not, but I’d prefer to remain lukewarm in regards to the new LP so as not to get my hopes up. Emotional attachment to 90’s alt-rock aside, the new once-again-self-titled album (aka “The Red Album”) drops June 17th and is poised to be the band’s triumphant return to true form!! [Ahhh, that felt good]
Check out the clip for yourself and keep those fingers crossed.

Green album: 4.5/5 - show some respect.

I finally heard the song “pork and beans’ in its entirety. the song is cool and definitely sounds beefy like old tunes, but… god, Rivers can’t write lyrics for shit.
“oakley makes the shades” that something something, and some mention about timbaland being on top of the charts. I honestly thought rivers was going to say “I like girls that wear abercrombie and fitch”.
Despite all that hatin’, I really, really like the way the song sounds. I was hoping that hearing the new single would rid me of my uneasiness, but now I am more nervous about it than ever.

Sorry Daniel, a ratings adjustment is needed on Green Album and Maladroit…The Green Album had three hit songs and a bunch of garbage filler tracks and Maladroit sounds like it was written by someone else and mailed in for them to their record company… I think you gotta hold bands to their standards and the Blue Album and Pinkerton set Weezer’s bar pretty high..Their isn’t a weak song on the Blue Album and Pinkerton may not have the hits, but was consistently good in style throughout..I would give the Green Album a 2.5 and Maladroit a 2….I hope they make a triumph comeback though, as I spent many an afternoon playing Nintendo in my basement listening to these guys rock out…
